The Greenbelt MakerSpace is offering a sewing machine class on Sunday, November 19 at 1 p.m. in the upstairs conference room of The Granite Building (entrance across from the Coop). Learn how to use a sewing machine! We have some sewing machines and you can bring your own for more individualized instruction. The next Greenbelt MakerSpace Repair Café is Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Granite Building, 115 Centerway. Come learn how to repair your tired or broken stuff or help repair others’ items (experienced and novice volunteers are welcome). Bring clothing, furniture, appliances, computers, jewelry, toys, etc. for the challenge of making it useful again. Please volunteer to help at the repair cafe, email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Greenbelt MakerSpace is offering a quilting class for beginners on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m. in the upstairs conference room of The Granite Building (entrance across from the Coop). Have you ever wondered how to get started quilting on a sewing machine? What tools do you need, how do you read a quilt pattern, and how to start putting your fabric blocks together? This beginner session is for you. Come sample what it takes to get started. Please bring your sewing machine, white cotton thread on a spool, sewing notions, and ideas for your quilt. Participants are welcome to bring their own projects to receive help with them. Sewing machines can be borrowed from the MakerSpace tool library. Sign up with this form. To join the Tool Library, create an account at our online library and certify that you will abide by the Liability Waiver and Indemnification Agreement, Borrower’s Agreement and Code of Conduct (also in PDF to print and bring with you). Sign a paper copy of the application by visiting during our hours of operation. We apologize that we are asking for your information twice (online and on paper).
Please donate your membership dues online. Please donate what you can, such as this voluntary sliding scale membership dues schedule based on your individual income. Larger donations are definitely welcome. The upfront money will help the Tool Library buy more tools that you can borrow. There is NO additional fee to borrow tools - only if they are late or lost!
